The Office of Alumni Development and Alumni Relations manages the HOST program to help medical students reduce expenses related to traveling for residency interviews.
How Does the HOST Program Work?
Host Our Students as they Travel (HOST) matches fourth-year medical students with Penn Medicine alumni residing in cities nationwide. Participating alumni provide students with information about residency training programs and lifestyles. Many offer to host students and their spouses or significant others for a one- or two-day stay, typically from October through January, as they travel for interviews.
HOST alumni often provide medical students with lodging, transportation and meals. (Think of the money you can save!) More important, they offer students an insider’s view of their medical specialty, of the profession in general, and of their city of residence and its resources.
