From its Latin root, "to initiate," commencement means both a beginning and a day of degree conferment. Thus, for many, commencement ceremonies offer a chance to reflect on the years of hard work and training that have advanced them — as graduating students or alumni — to a new chapter in life.
Commencement will take place on the morning of Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the magnificent Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.
